To present some teaching and learning materials on FUNCTIONS IN GENERAL AND LINEAR FUNCTIONS for students aged 14-16. The materials encourage and enable students to learn through inquiry and are made available through Moodle. Some Geogebra animations are embedded into inquiry based learning sequences to support real world activities.

After this course, teachers can be provided with a private copy of the materials to use interactively with their own students online if they wish. All hosting and related issues will be dealt with by the ITEMS project

•                 To discuss the course materials and the didactical and technical approach.

Course schedule

1^st week

Introduction to the course: Videoconference

Some background to inquiry and the structure of the online course

Student overview, Dependent and Independent Quantities, the Concept of Variables and Functions, Rectangular Coordinate System (Cartesian Plane)

2^nd week

Student work in Linear function (definition, properties, the meaning of coefficients), Different forms of the straight line equation, Linear function in everyday life

3^rd week

Student investigation inLinear Equation, System of Two Linear Equations and summary

4^th week

Conclusion of student work

Looking at the course as a teacher.
